Actual exam question from Salesforce's Certified Industries CPQ Developer
Question #: 9
Topic #: 1
[All Certified Industries CPQ Developer Questions]

A developer needs to configure a new installation product that will not be charged to customers. The developer creates the product using the Installation object type and adds a product code MODEM5G-INST. To simplify configuration, the developer does not configure a price. The developer sets the Selling Start Date to 1 month from now.
To test the new product, the developer configures an order in the Cart and selects the default price list. The developer searches the products list, but the new product does not appear.
What is causing this issue?

  • A. The product code contains a non-alphanumeric character (-).
  • B. The developer did not configure a price.
  • C. The Selling Start Date price is in the future.
  • D. The developer did not run Refresh Platform Cache.

Selected Answer: C
B. The developer did not configure a price. While it's common to configure a price for products, it's possible to have products with a price of zero. However, it's important to ensure that a price entry exists, even if the amount is zero. Some configurations may require a price entry for the product to appear in the Cart. In Salesforce Industries CPQ, the Selling Start Date determines when a product becomes available for ordering. If the Selling Start Date is set to a future date, the product will not appear in the Cart until that date is reached.
