Use a __________ picklist to filter the values of one picklist based on the value of another picklist. Answer should be 'Controlling'. Reasoning is, you cannot use 'Dependent' picklist to values to filter any other picklist, but you can use 'Controlling' picklist value to filter a 'Dependent' picklist value.

=> https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/picklist_admin/picklist_admin_start A dependent picklist filters values for one picklist based on a selection from another picklist or a checkbox (the controlling value) on the same record

IMO the key word is "to filter" so only the controling picklist can filter the dependent one. The dependent one is the result of filtering not the one that filters. So the answer is A, IMO.

Dependant. A dependent picklist is a custom or multi-select picklist for which the valid values depend on the value of another field, called the controlling field . Controlling fields can be any picklist (with at least one and fewer than 300 values) or checkbox field on the same record.

This question is a bit ambiguous: as per Salesforce dependent picklist is a custom or multi-select picklist for which the valid values depend on the value of another field, called the controlling field. Controlling fields can be any picklist (with at least one and fewer than 300 values) or checkbox field on the same record. In effect we have dependent picklists and controlling fields...not really controlling picklist. But I guess the answer given as correct is as close to the proper answer possible given in the choices.

Answer: A . Because, Controlling fields can be any picklist (with at least one and fewer than 300 values) or checkbox field on the same record. A dependent picklist is a custom or multi-select picklist for which the valid values depend on the value of another field, called the controlling field.

Use Dependent Picklists to help your users enter accurate and consistent data. A dependent picklist is a custom or multi-select picklist for which the valid values depend on the value of another field, called the controlling field. https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=fields_about_dependent_fields.htm&type=5

Correct answer is C. There's no such thing as a Controlling Picklist. There are controlling and dependent fields FOR picklists, but not the other way around. Dependent picklist is the correct answer. Controlling fields can be: Custom or Standard Checkbox, Custom or Standard Picklist. Dependent Fields can be: Custom Picklist or Multi-Select Picklist.

The answer is correct. It’s called a “controlling field” but it is, in essence, a pick list. The controlling field filters the values of the dependent pick list - which depends on it.
