To create a new asset class, a new table is created that extends the base asset table (alm_asset).
When creating a model category, the Asset Class field gives alm_asset and alm_hardware as options along with alm_facility, alm_consumable, alm_license. Shouldn't alm_asset then be the base asset class?

The default asset classes are Hardware, Software License, and Consumable. These general classes can be used to manage various assets.
From the options the table that represents base asset class is Hardware [alm_hardware] Stores general, financial, and contractual information about hardware assets.
