AIX is actually supported. The documentation states that any OS supported by Splunk Enterprise works for Clustering. Quote: "Search head clustering is available on all operating systems supported for Splunk Enterprise."

AIX is only supported for UFs, not Splunk Enterprise. Ref: https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/9.4.2/Installation/Systemrequirements#Unix_operating_systems

C is NOT correct, because there is no such requirement. Splunk only recommends that all instances are running the same hardware specs, but does not require it. Quote: "Splunk recommends that you use homogeneous machines with identical hardware specifications for all cluster members."

While I think that you are technically correct, the objective here is to find the correct answer to the test question, not the technically correct answer.

Selected Answer: A
The correct answer is A! AIX is supported. As mentioned in the documentation: "Search head clustering is available on all operating systems supported for Splunk Enterprise." Answer "C" is NOT correct, because there is no such requirement. All members must run the same OS and Splunk version, but not Hardware specs... The documentation states: "Splunk recommends that you use homogeneous machines with identical hardware specifications for all cluster members." Recommends is not the same as Requires...

They "MUST" run the same OS and Splunk version, but not hardware specs... It's only "recommended" by Splunk, but not required.
