Reverse is correct to inverse the color of the measures; example blue for high measure and red for low. Reverse will change this and assign red to high and blue to low
Opacity will fade all the colors but reversed will invert the colors i.e. initially the higher value gets darker color but if you use reversed then the higher the value the lighter the color assigned to it.
Select Reversed to invert the order of colors in the range. For example, if you want lower values to have a darker intensity in a sequential palette, reverse the palette. For a diverging palette, reversing the color palette means swapping the two colors in the palette, in addition to inverting the shades within each color range.
