In the proxy "[For restore operations] A VMware backup proxy must have write access to LUNs where VM disks are located." Is D the correct The answer in refer to the proxy requerimient.

Sorry, that's the correct "E", I put the "D" wrong. If the question referred to recovery, it would be "D", but in this case the configuration limitation would apply, which would be "E"

Is A, for backup you don't need write access, but IDE and SATA are not supportet with Direct SAN Access https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/direct_san_access.html?ver=100

IDE and sata are supported. It is in the link you provided "IDE and SATA disks can be processed in the Direct SAN access transport mode."

What do you thing about it? Textual under limitations: Veeam Backup & Replication uses the Direct SAN access transport mode to read and write VM data only during the first session of the replication job. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/direct_san_access.html?ver=100

Based on the question, assume this is the first time job and it failed . So the read and write access must be provided to start the job.

that refers to the write part (target side) . the read part (source side) always uses direct san acces mode even during the subsequent sessions of replica job
