The question does not state that the host profile was updated, just that the reference host was. Therefore, the correct answer would be B.

Answer A is correct. After having updated the DNS settings on the reference host, the reference host becomes non-compliant and needs to be propagated to the other hosts. You must then apply the profile for it to update on all hosts in the cluster. See the workflow on this reference or in mpopadic's reply above. https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/techpaper/vmw-host-profiles-tech-overview-white-paper.pdf

You musta apply changes for entities to get new config. So, A is not correct. You can view the page 14-15. B is correct. https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/techpaper/vmw-host-profiles-tech-overview-white-paper.pdf

I think the answer is A. If the profile exists in your inventory and you want to propagate a basic configuration change across the environment Examples: • Update DNS Settings • Update NTP Settings • Add new Virtual Switch • Add new Port Groups • Configure hosts to use Distributed Switch • Configure hosts to use NAS storage Update profile using the vSphere Client: 1. Identify the profile’s reference host. • If the profile does not have a reference host in the environment (i.e., profile was imported), change its reference host. 2. Change setting on reference host using the vSphere Client. 3. Update profile from reference host. 4. Apply the profile. https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/techpaper/vmw-host-profiles-tech-overview-white-paper.pdf

No. Whenever you do a modification to the reference host, you need to export the Host profile and apply to remaining hosts, manually. Answer is B.
