Sorry error i mean to say C and NOT D as it is asking ONLY for DATA NODES, the witness node only holds the witness components of VMs not any data

The correct answer is D For RAID 5 with FTT=1 is required 2n+2 host per site, this is 4 hosts. Thus each site is built as follow: Prefered site = 4 host non-prefered site = 4 hosts witness site = 1 Total is required 9 hosts across ALL sites.

The nomenclature used to describe a Virtual SAN Stretched Cluster configuration is X+Y+Z, where X is the number of ESXi hosts at data site A, Y is the number of ESXi hosts at data site B, and Z is the number of witness hosts at site C

The question asked for the amount of data nodes. 4 + 4 data nodes 1 witness (which is not in the count for the answer)

in stretched design, we use a witness in virtualization mode and low for the minimum host for rais -5 reduce to 3 Host per site. I think the correct answer is B

"Failure to tolerate" field defines the protection into the site. In this case we have two sites, so each site will have a RAID 5 and 8 hosts (4 per site) will be required. C is the right answer.
