Migration with vMotion in Environments Without Shared Storage Quote "You can use vMotion to migrate virtual machines across vCenter Server instances." https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc/GUID-561681D9-6511-44DF-B169-F20E6CA94944.html Therefore the answer should be: (B) Shared Nothing vMotion

B . We are moving vm between vcenter and it leverages the migration with unshared storage

ALF4 and others who say B are probably correct. That means the question is poorly worded, because the name "Shared-Nothing vMotion" is deprecated, and the new name used in the docs is "vMotion Without Shared Storage." Also VMware has a terrible habit of NOT naming things the same way in the GUI screens as they do in the online documentation.

A vSphere vMotion migration moves a powered-on virtual machine from one host to another. Shared-nothing vSphere vMotion migration enables a virtual machine to change its host, datastores, networks, and vCenter Server instances simultaneously, even if the two hosts do not have a shared storage. This technique combines vSphere vMotion and vSphere Storage vMotion into a single operation. vSphere Storage vMotion, you can migrate a virtual machine and its disk files from one datastore to another while the virtual machine is running. vSphere Storage vMotion operations are performed either internally on a single ESXi host or offloaded to the storage array. answer is Shared nothing vMotion Source is VMware free Ebook

I would say B. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc/GUID-A16BA123-403C-4D13-A581-DC4062E11165.html Storage vMotion can migrate a VM only if the source host has access to the source and destination datastore. In the question there is no explanation of the datastore, hence I choose share-nothing vMotion

storage vMotion n Shared-Nothing vSphere vMotion allow vm migration with power state on, but migration accross vcenter (between vcenter) can only use Shared-Nothing vSphere vMotion

This is my point of view: 1 - The VM is a powered on. 2 - The host that is in one vCenter Server will not be in the other. 3 - Storage vMotion only migrates data. So for me is B - Shared-nothing vSphere vMotion. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc/GUID-561681D9-6511-44DF-B169-F20E6CA94944.html

People, you have have shared storage between two vCenters, you're performing a Cross-vCenter vMotion. Also, Shared-Nothing is just a "type/method" of SvMotion, it's still SvMotion.
