Actual exam question from VMware's 3V0-624
Question #: 41
Topic #: 1
[All 3V0-624 Questions]

A company has requested that a new vSphere 6,5 design be created.
✑ The existing environment consists of 32 vSphere 6.0 hosts attached to an iSCSI storage array.
✑ The storage arrays contain external customer financial and medical records used by company's investment and medical services division.
The design must:
✑ Protect the company's existing data center investment
✑ Expand to a second data center site
✑ Introduce process automation
✑ Expand to and fail over to public cloud
Which two non-functional requirements are applicable for this design? (Choose two.)

  • A. The product of the design must account for regulatory compliance.
  • B. The automation solution must be compatible with the existing equipment.
  • C. The product of the design must feature 3DES encryption at the virtual machine disk level.
  • D. At least two 10Gbps interfaces must be dedicated to storage on each host.
  • E. Every host in the design must have Lockdown Mode enabled for security.

B -Automation solution must --- a non-functional requirement. A, regulatory, functional requirement C, 3DES encryption, functional requirement, as it will deliver a new implementation in security. D, two 10Gbps, funtional requirement, as it will deliver multipath to the system. E, lock down mode, still looks like functional requirement, but as it's not new, Take everything into consideration, I will pick up B&E.

Agreed with the provided answer. Functional requirements specify a specific function of the design or simply WHAT a design must do. Functional requirements can be business or technical requirements. Nonfunctional requirements specify HOW the design must perform or operate. While a functional requirement defines something that the design must do, a nonfunctional requirement defines HOW or HOW well it must be done. A: regulatory compliance which a design must do, otherwise been punishment and design is illegal. it is a functional requirement, not a non-functional requirement.

B: The automation solution must be compatible with the existing equipment. the design must process automation, the existing equipment is 32 vSphere 6.0 Hosts, this design must do. if you think it is a non-functional requirement, think 2 questions 1. who can make this decision, designer or Customer, Customer=Functional, Designer=non-functional 2. can this be replaceable? Yes=Functional, No=Nonfunctional C: non-functional, describe how to fulfill the security, failover to the cloud is not applicable for this design.

D: non-functional, it is an answer without a doubt E: Lockdown Mode enabled for security, it is non-functional, In lockdown mode, operations must be performed through vCenter Server by default, it is a way (HOW) to "Protect the company's existing data center investment"

What is Non-Functional Requirement? A non-functional requirement defines the quality attribute of a software system. They represent a set of standards used to judge the specific operation of a system. Example, how fast does the website load? A non-functional requirement is essential to ensure the usability and effectiveness of the entire software system. Failing to meet non-functional requirements can result in systems that fail to satisfy user needs. Non-functional Requirements allows you to impose constraints or restrictions on the design of the system across the various agile backlogs. Example, the site should load in 3 seconds when the number of simultaneous users are > 10000. Description of non-functional requirements is just as critical as a functional requirement.

FYI Functional Requirements A requirement specifies a function that a system or component should perform. These may include: Business Rules Authentication Audit Tracking Certification Requirements Reporting Requirements Historical Data Legal or Regulatory Requirements

The questions states "Which two non-functional requirements are applicable for this design?" then list 5 non-functional requirements..... only two of them are applicable based on the things it must do..... B is one as it protects the investment by being compatible & introducing automation. I'm less clear on the other one but i'd suggest A based on the type of records being held - a need for regulatory compliance is implied.

Correct AD: "regulatory compliance" is a non-functional requirement => Yes Automation is not tied to the "existing equipment", but to software ...and it is a functional 3DES encryption is Microsoft Two 10Gbps is non-functional requirement (quantity) => Yes "Lockdown Mode enabled" is a functional requirement

Agree with A & D A - Customer Financial Data is governed by regulatory compliance D - iSCSI to storage requires 10Gbps

B and E sound more reasonable. Automation must and E as it was stated to protect company investment. That doesn't mean they need to protect cloud objects

Unsure on this one. A is a functional requirement (as usually all legal or compulsory requirements), and I'd say the same for B. C,D and E could be seen as constraints. The question is, which two are applicable for this design. C) vSphere replication doesn't work with encrypted VM, which would prevent them to fail over to the cloud and limit automation. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/com.vmware.vsphere.security.doc/GUID-C0AF1F3A-67B4-41A6-A933-7E52A3603D9D.html D requires 2x 10Gbps card per host. However, the design must protect the company's Data Centre investment. There is no info about the host already having them. If not, it would be an extra cost and go against that budget requirement (although still using all the hardware, just adding the new cards). E) This can be applied to the current datacentre (not to the public cloud, where hosts are managed by the provider)
