Another weird one, as HA implies Availability, but there are only 2 places for that... Assuming Availability = NO downtime, I'd say Proactive HA and Fault Tolerance, as these are the only 2 features that prevent downtime, thus ensure continuous availability. Recoverability: VADP (old backup solution), vCenter HA (there's a minimal downtime during failover, vSphere HA (triggered when host or storage is down, therefore introducing minimal downtime to restart VMs to another host) and vSphere Replication.

Availability: Proactive HA - ensures availability by migrating VMs based on hardware awareness VMware Fault Tolerance - ensures availability by running an identical instance on another host Recoverability: vCenter HA - Active/Passive/Witness setup, so a crash at first then recovered on passive node vSphere HA - Host crashes, so VM crashes, then recovers on another host vSphere Replication - This doesn't prevent a crash, and you have to trigger a recovery vSphere Storage APIs for Data Protection - This is typically backups based off of snapshots, such as Veeam, Backup Exec, etc.

Recoverability: VADP vCenter HA -> cluster solution, if you delete a vCenter VM you have 2 other copies so I'd prefer to use it for recoverability instead of HA if I can choose only 2 for it. vSphere Replication vSphere storage API for DP Availability: Proactive HA vSphere HA

Agreed with the answer given. Since high availability and other HA will recover the VMs.Whereas FT will provide continuous availability.

Correction , proactive HA is more reasonable.

I'm more leaned towards vSphere HA and FT as availability as these are application specific where every other option is a recovery or recovery pervention mechanisms
