An administrator can use Update Manager Download Service (UMDS) to download patches and updates on a system with internet access and then transfer them to vSphere Lifecycle Manager depot on a system without internet access1. Another option is to use a Web server on the machine on which UMDS is installed1

Starting with vSphere 7.0, the UMDS is available for installation only on Linux-based operating systems. Installing UMDS on a Windows machine is no longer supported.
