DRAG DROP - An engineer is configuring VNTag between a virtualized server and a Cisco Nexus 5500 Series switch. Drag and drop the configuration steps from the left into the correct order on the right. Select and Place:
you are totally wrong, this article
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117691-config-5500switch-00.html
is for cisco 5000 series switch NOT cisco 5500 series switch
guys, these document is the only valid reference:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5500/sw/adapter-fex/7x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_7x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_7x_chapter_010.html
Configuring the Adapter FEX Feature
-------------------------------------------------------------
Configure the switch to support Adapter-FEX.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before You Begin
Enable the Adapter FEX feature by enabling the virtualization feature set.
Enable network interface virtualization (NIV) on the physical server adapters using the Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC).
Therefore the correct step are:
1. Install feature
2. enable feature
3. Support NIV
4. port profile
5 VNTag
6 vNIC of the server
Step 1. Install the Virtualization feature
Step 2. Enable the Virtualization feature
Step 3. Configure VNTAG mode on the interface
Step 4. Configure the port profile
Step 5. Configure the server to support NIV mode
Step 6. Configure vNIC of the Server
As per latest doco
Step 1. Install the Virtualization feature
Step 2. Enable the Virtualization feature
Step 3. Configure VNTAG mode on the interface
Step 4. Configure the port profile
Step 5. Configure the server to support NIV mode
Step 6. Configure vNIC of the Server
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5500/sw/adapter-fex/6x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_6x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_602N11_chapter_010.html
This is honestly a ridiculous question. You could perfectly also begin with configuring the server, and then the switch. Also, on the switch, except for the install and enable commands, you could first create either the profile or enable vntag on the interface, and then bind them together (which by the way this last step is not on the vnic config but it is later on the vHBA config on this link https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117691-config-5500switch-00.html)
I am sorry,
if you means "virtualized server" therefore, please read this document
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117690-configure-vmfex-00.html
there are 2 verions available....
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117691-config-5500switch-00.html
and
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5500/sw/adapter-fex/7x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_7x/b_5500_Adapter_FEX_Config_7x_chapter_010.html
one is more recent:
install feature-set virtualization
enable feature-set virtualization
port profile
VNTag
support NIV
vNIC of the server
The Problem with this question is that not even Cisco can agree on the correct procedure. In the two links provided by Fatmok, Cisco provide 2 different solutions.
They both agree that steps 1 & 2 should be
1. Install feature-set Virtualisation
2. enable feature-set virtualisation
Steps 3 & 4 they can't agree on, one says Port Profile then vntag, the other vntag then port profile.
Both agree the final steps should be
5. Support NIV
6. vNIC of a Server
The most recent suggests steps 3 is Port Profile & 4 is vntag, so I'll go with this
Step 1. Install the Virtualization feature
Step 2. Enable the Virtualization feature
Step 3. Configure VNTAG mode on the interface
Step 4. Configure the port profile
Step 5. Configure the server to support NIV mode
Step 6. Configure vNIC of the Server
This is the correct order. Check the details of the septs at the link:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117691-config-5500switch-00.html
first you set switchport mode vntag and then create port profile
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/nexus-5000-series-switches/117691-config-5500switch-00.html
install feature-set virtualization
enable feature-set virtualization
port profile
VNTag
support NIV
vNIC of the server
