Crypto-malware: A malicious program that encrypts Programs and Files on the computer in order to extort money from the user. Ransomware: Denies access to a Computer System or data until a ransom is paid. Can be spread through a phishing email or unknowingly infected website.

I would go with B just because this is a Security + exam and not an A + exam.

Crypto-malware. This is the program that is actually performing the criminal cryptomining. Crypto-malware is one of the latest malware threats, and it’s particularly insidious because, unlike ransomware, it can go about doing its work completely undetected. The goal of a crypto-malware isn’t to steal data – it is to remain in place for as long as possible, quietly mining in the background.

I don't seem to agree with this answer, B is more likely the correct option here. Does anyone has a better explanation

I agree, if I am Service Desk and the user tells me there wasn't any strange message, I would go for a disk integrity check, because a ransomware without a ransom message makes no sense

It is saying CRYPTO MALWARE, not ransomware. Crypto malware mines on the computer without wanting to be known, ransomware wants to be known for money.

No, Ransomeware is also called Crypto Malware, no messages means A is most likely.

"The service desk technician asked Ann if she encountered any strange messages on boot-up or login, and Ann indicated she did not." How on Earth is still ca crypto malware? Crypto-ransomware essentially takes the files hostage, demanding a ransom in exchange for the decryption key needed to restore the files.

Crypto-malwares also leave notes on desktop or even change your background with the message. She might not have gotten the message pop-up, but it can be somewhere.
