This question is either missing information or leaves much to infer. The answers indicate there is more than one antivirus client installed on this computer. Removing the user-installed antivirus is the most correct answer. Multiple antivirus products can congest CPU and RAM resources and may trigger each other when they read the other's virus database. Activating real-time protection on both antivirus programs is incorrect. See above. Running OS updates is incorrect as there is no indication nor posited theory that the OS itself is causing the slowdown. Enabling quarantine features on both antivirus programs is incorrect. Again, more than one antivirus program active on a system can cause them to clash.

"A user believes there is a virus on a laptop." The question starts with that. So that seems to be the original issue that needs to be resolved. But then there is a new issue to be resolved, the "extremely slow performance." I guess we should assume that the slow performance is the primary issue to resolve, so (E) "Remove the user-installed AV software."

I second this. The question infers there was no slow performance until after the antivirus was installed.

Corporate users have all types of crazy ideas about how computers work, but they should not be installing their own anti virus software that the company has not verified, rather the computer would already have corporate anti virus software installed. The correct answer is E
