A company needs to destroy several SSDs that contain sensitive information. Which of the following methods is BEST suited for the total destruction of the SSDs?
I don't think it's an orthodox method, but incinerating the drive is the most correct answer.
SSDs do not store data magnetically like HDDs do, so degaussing may leave data intact. Overwriting or formatting the drive may still leave the drive in a recoverable state.
Even drilling or hammering a drive would be less than correct. Every component of the drive must be thoroughly destroyed, which is why incineration is the right answer. A high enough temperature will disrupt circuit paths and melt the chips within. An industrial mechanical shredder would also be a feasible destruction method. The drive manufacturer may offer their own solutions on their website.
if this chat forum could post memes, you see the ending of terminator 2 right here where the T850 is asking for assistance from John Connor to self terminate.
