A customer is having trouble opening several files on a computer. The customer renames one of the files, but then the correct program will no longer open it. Which of the following settings is a solution to the issue?
The solution to this issue lies in hiding the file extensions. When a file extension is visible, the operating system associates it with a specific program for opening. By hiding the extensions, the system won’t rely solely on the file name to determine the appropriate program. Instead, it will use the internal file type information to open the file correctly. Therefore, the correct answer is B. Hide the extensions.
Apparently the user is renaming files without specifying the extension, this is why the applications can not red it. Hiding the extension, the problem will be prevented, si B is the right answer. If it was asking what is the right process to solve this, then A was a good option
I think A
The file has been renamed and now unable to find it. The customer will now need to go to the following:
Folder Options --> View --> Click the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types" also ensure that the radio button for "Show hidden files, folders, and drives in clicked.
I disagree. The question is how do you get the file to open, not how to prevent it from happening again. If you hide the extension then you don't know what the full name is. If they renamed file.txt to file.jpg and you hide it, all you will see is the name - file. If you change the view to show details, then it will show file.jpg and then you will know to rename with a .txt extension. I say A is correct.
If you hide the extension the user can rename the file without remove the extension (.pdf...or .docx...or .exe) and the OS will open the file correctly
Yes, the answer is correct.
This question is a problem because it states 2 issues but is only asking about the renaming one.
