When I look in the exam objectives 4.3 "Given a scenario, implement basic disaster prevention and recovery methods." Backup testing and Cloud storage is on it not Hot site. Answer should be A and B.

What is a hot site? A hot site is an off-premises location where an organization can resume normal operations during a commercial disaster. All the equipment needed for the work to resume is available at a hot site, including phones, backup data, and computers.

B. Cloud storage: Using cloud storage can help ensure that the customer's data is safe and accessible even if their physical hardware is damaged or destroyed. With cloud storage, the data is stored on remote servers maintained by a third-party provider, which provides redundancy and protection against disasters such as hurricanes. C. Local storage backups: In addition to using cloud storage, it is also important for the customer to create local backups of their data on a regular basis. These backups should be stored in a separate location from the primary hardware to provide protection against physical damage or theft. The other options listed can also be helpful in certain situations, but they may not be the best recommendations in this particular case.

A. Backup testing – it won’t prevent data loss in case of a disaster B. Cloud storage – it prevents data loss even when disaster happens C. Local storage backups – the data can get damaged D. Data recovery – it is a process to recover data after a disaster, not a solution to prevent data loss when the disaster happens E. Hot site – a backup site can help to continue business operation F. Waterproof devices – it may be a good solution against floods, but not against hurricanes and earthquake

I think B & E, question says "no backups and has lost all data and hardware". Since you already got a backup from cloud, how are you gonna rebuild it if you don't have hardware needed for restoration? So B & E make sense

I would go with A & C based on the following objective Obj 4.3 In the business environment, plan backups for mission-critical applications in order to minimize downtime. Consider this as a business continuity solution as opposed to one of data recovery. Other business continuity considerations will be considered later. Cloud storage is a highly reliable online solution. Data can be stored off-site, providing more protection from fire, floods, and other natural disasters. Local backup storage is a good solution provided that the data is backed up to another physical disk, machine, or better still, an off-site location. External disks, SSD devices, and optical media can be used to store portable backups. This allows for total control of the data, however, the cost of hardware and support must be considered.

How will you back up data for disaster recovery? Typical cloud backup solutions, also known as online backup, focus on copying data files to a physically remote location, which is great for disaster recovery. Hybrid backup integrates cloud backup and local backup to deliver system recovery, rapid file restores, and disaster recovery.20 Apr 2019 What to Know About Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR)

Question specifically states that the customer wants to know how to avoid this issue in the future. So while yes, they lost all their data and hardware in the hurricane, they want to know what is the best way to avoid this happening again.

Hot Site vs Cold Site Disaster Recovery The most important question facing a business following a disaster is how long it will take them to get operations up and running again. In an ideal situation, there would be no disruption at all to services or networks, but shifting over to a backup solution isn’t always as easy as flipping a switch. Data may need to be transferred and, depending upon the backup frequency, may not be completely up to date. Disaster recovery data center solutions are typically available in one of two forms: hot site and cold site. While both approaches involve backing up data in a redundant data center location, they have a few important differences.

Unpopular opinion but Hot sites are part of security plus objectives, not A+. Hot sites are generally cost prohibitive for small businesses and while you might want to say use the home as a hot site, that's not a traditional characterization of a hot site. So not only would we have to go outside the objectives, we would also have to bend the definition a bit for hot site to be applicable. What is on the objectives however is cloud back ups and to ensure your backs work by testing of back ups. The issue however is that the question mentions loss of hardware and that is where I can see hot site come in, if it were on the objectives.

Given what JE39 pointed out about hot sites bieng more in the realm of security+ objectives. Would cloud storage fot the backups and backup testing to make sure they work when you need them not be more within the A+ curriculum? Thought you were the authority on all things IT OCD?

With Cloud Backups a hot site could be a couple of devices in another business office space. There's also an argument to be made for home to be a hot site.
