the answer is B! CompTIA wants you to break down a problem and find a quick fix. in this case option B! if that doesn't work then option A would be the nest option! Go over troubleshooting again and try doing practices as you read. practicals make things more clear!

Also, why the best answer is B is in the question, the Manager has restricted access meaning he cannot restart the service. He has no permission to do so as such the helpdesk to do for him

Selected Answer: B
B is the right answer here because after identifying the issue you have to fix the issue and then you should reboot the system for the changes to take effect.

Selected Answer: A
This question is also from Dion's exams (exam 3, #74), answer is A, to reboot. OBJ-3.2: If any of the .DLL files involved with Windows Update are not correctly registered, you may also encounter this problem. To solve it, open services.msc and stop the Windows Update service. Then, open a Command Prompt as the administrator and use regsvr32 for each of the 6 Windows Update DLL files (wuapi.dll, wuaueng.dll, wups.dll, wups2.dll, wuwebv.dll, and wucltux.dll). Then, open services.msc and restart the Windows Update service. Finally, restart your computer for these changes to take effect.

LOL read what you wrote "open services.msc and restart the windows update service. Finally, restart you computer..." you would have to restart the services first then restart the computer

I was also confused about this until I read the question numerous times. Dion's exam practice if you read the question carefully "A user receives the following error message: "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." The user calls the help desk to report the error they received. A support technician uses a remote connection tool to log in to the computer remotely, quickly identifies the issue, and fixes the issue. Which of the following should the technician do NEXT?" the key words here is quickly identifies the issue, and fixes the issue... so Next you should reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.

In comptia questions look for extra information provided. First line indicates "restricted user account" thus the inference is this could be a rights issue causing Windows Update to be disabled. Thus a change in user rights would likely require a reboot before taking effect per the options provided.

Selected Answer: B
I would vote B specifically because of the way the question is phrased. The technician has discovered the problem, not resolved it yet. Before restarting the computer and losing the remote connection, it makes sense to restart the network services first. If it works, awesome. If it doesn't, then reboot.

IF tech reboot the system he will loose the remote connection so I think B is the correct answer in this situation.

Windows update service will restart when the PC is rebooted. You could restart it manually of course but that option isn't here unless network services is a typo.

I was thinking that it's gotta be a typo myself. CompTIA exams seems to want the fastest solutions to be attempted FIRST so restarting the computer wouldn't be it. I'd just go in and kill/restart the update service and see if that does it.

If the tech connected remotely, network services are working fine. The answer should be A since none of the other answers apply, right?
