It's in-place upgrade. From a similar question with just minor details changed, here's the explanation: OBJ-1.3: An in-place upgrade will preserve all of the user's files and applications during the upgrade process from Windows 8 to Windows 10. A clean installation will completely format the hard drive (losing all of the files and applications) and then install a new copy of Windows 10. A reset upgrade will keep the user's data files, but not the applications on the system. An unattended installation is used to perform a clean install and use the configurations from an answers file instead of an interactive session with the installer.

Shouldn't the answer be an in place installation?? That's the exact term used by Microsoft when installing a new version of Windows over an older one while preserving files. A "refresh upgrade" is a term used by Cisco when dealing with their particular software.

I agree because a refresh does not upgrade the system, it refreshes the current OS. In-Place upgrades the system and keeps the files.

FOOL, you CANNOT do an "In-place" upgrade from Win8 to Win10 [It will NOT work]. The correct answer is correct.

Shut up! Don’t mislead people As Betty said, in place upgrade will save all files, applications and data. We don’t have such a term REFRESH UPGRADE! For Comptia A+ I took over 1000+ a+ tests and never crossed the term refresh upgrade for A+

wow i'm so turned on by your utter confidence in your own stupidity, (i mean like, i know that a refresh won't upgrade your pc to a new OS and in-place would be the most correct answer here, but you say it so sexy so i gotta believe you for sure)

Please let me clarify whether place upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 is very possible. You have to upgrade to 8.1 first. But its doable

Selected Answer: B
There's an important detail. You can upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, but not from Windows 8. The only way to upgrade from Windows 8 is a double upgrade (8.1 and then 10), but this is not mentioned. So the only valid alternative is a refresh upgrade

An in-place upgrade is an upgrade from one OS to another, like from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade automatically transfers your files, apps and data to the newly upgraded OS without you having to really do anything. It's ready to go as soon as it's done. A refresh upgrade does not work like this.

A computer refresh isn't the same as an in-place upgrade because a computer refresh involves exporting user data and settings then wiping the device before installing a fresh OS and restoring the user's data and settings.

The answer is correct - here's what I found "The computer refresh scenario is a reinstallation of an updated operating system on the same computer. You can also use this procedure to reinstall the same OS version."

D in place upgrade: Refresh is a Win 8 term on the A+ objectives which restores the windows files but retains users data and applications. The A+ exam follows the Comptia Objectives.

B. Refresh is wrong a wrong answer. Refresh in Win8/8.1 means that you keep all personal files and settings but after refreshing, you will stay with the same version of Win. An in-place upgrade can be performed from Win 8.1 -> Win 10 and also Win 8 -> Win 10 [not recommend but possible]. So, the correct answer is D. In-Place upgrade.
