Data deduplication is not supported for certain volumes, such as any volume that is not a NTFS file system or any volume that is smaller than 2 GB.

No, for 2016 only NTFS and ReFS are supported not - ExFat so formatting the D: drive to that volume type is incorrect

Moreover, data deduplication is not supported in ReFS.

I thought dedup for ReFS was only supported as of Server 2019?

As of Server 2016 ver 1709 dedup is supported on ReFS. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview#the-following-features-are-available-on-refs-and-ntfs

ReFs is supported only server Core and Nano server since 1709 version of 2016... But this is exFat formatting as i understand?!

Dan is right - only NTFS Volumes are Supported, extfat is also not supported. If you run enable-dedupvolume on ReFs or Extfat volume you get a error: Deduplication is supported on fixed, write-enabled NTFS data volumes and CSV backed by NTFS data volumes. So it's B- No

For the 70-740 exam Refs formatted volumes do not support data deduplication.
