Process of elimination... Answer A is out because you can't run dedupe on the OS volume Answer B is out because you can't run dedupe on exFAT Answer C is correct, there is nothing that can preclude you from running Dedupe on this volume Answer D - Technically correct as of Update 1709 Answer E - is correct as nothing on this volume prevents you running dedupe. So you should choose Answers C and E (volumes E and G). DO NOT CHOOSE Answer D (Volume F) as this is only correct as of 1709, you don't know which answer the question is looking for an whether or not MS have updated the answer so you do not know if it will allow it. We do know that regardless of version answers C and D are correct.

Made a mistake, in the above reply the very last line should read... C and E are correct. Sorry about that.

Option A is wrong as the OS would be on C:. Option B and D are wrong as prior to 1709, ReFS was not supported and exFAT was never supported. That leaves Options C & E as the correct answers.

What should we answer in the exam? Obviously ReFS already supports data dedup after 1709...?

IMPORTANT: ReFS already supports deduplication as of version 1709. This answer is out of date! In the exam you MUST consider the upgrade.

Although the exam may say that ReFS does not support data deduplication, After Windows Server 2016 version 1709 ReFS does support deduplication. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview

I think that for the context of this windows server 2016 exam, we should consider that it doesnt support it.

Test isn't on 1709. Microsoft Refers to 1709 as an entirely separate release. This fact will be included in the Server 2019 MCSA Installation, Storage, and Compute. Logically.

Thanks, I really hope you're right. This has been confusing me for 2 weeks, but I'll assume that the questions are for standard Server 2016, not 2019 or any Later Version of 2016.
