File Folder Permissions Long filenames: ReFS support name of 32768 characters, NTFS of 255 characters.

Isn't 256 characters a limit imposed by Windows so even with ReFS you would not get longer filenames

The dedup debate is incredibly frustrating. MS really need to put more attention into the questions and be specific about what they expect. But I am going with NO DEDUP in 2016. Unless the question refers to 1709 or a newer version.

I wouls say A and D as well. Data dedup can be ignored for ReFS unless they specifically refer to 1709. Long file names doesn't stand out but it is the only other option that makes sense and it is correct.

Data Deduplication supported and available for ReFS on Windows Server 2016, version 1709 and later. ALL 740 QUESTIONS WILL BE UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT WINDOWS SERVER 2016 IS A FRESH INSTALL. Unless specifically stating Windows Server 2016 has received the 1709 update, go on the basis that this is a brand new out of the box Windows Server 2016 Edition.

I agree that A and D are correct. This question is as same as No.17 on page 60.

It might be a tricky question, because long file names are supported on both ReFS and NTFS. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview The dedup part is just shameful though! Now I have no idea if I should consider dedup for ReFS or not for the exam...

Dedup is only supported in the Semi Annual Servicing Channel. The regular LTSB which is being tested here does not support it. Unless the question specifically says that it's the Semi-annual channel, then Dedup is not supported.

I agree with slcc99 Window server 1709 which support ReFS De Dup is different with Windows Server 2016 https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/windowsserver/2017/10/26/faq-on-windows-server-version-1709-and-semi-annual-channel/

Hi all, Microsoft has updated the exam on March 13, 2019. This question was posted on Oct 7, 2019. For the exam, we need consider all updates till March 2019. ReFS supported deduplication in 1709 and exam updates are until 1903. It means the current exam will be tested on 1903. So ReFS supports deduplication.

So then there are 3 correct answers. Whether DD is supported or not, Long File Names ARE supported, so A and D are correct. E might be correct.

Absolutely not. Unless the version number is stated, you should assume Server 2016 does not support dedupe

I'll go for the updated one because the following Microsoft doc says that ReFS supports data deduplication: Applies to: Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server (Semi-Annual Channel) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview

Like most people here, I've been concerned about whether the exam takes into account that ReFS now supports data deduplication. And have done a search to see what I could find... This link from MS is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, because it's non specific, but read between the lines... https://trainingsupport.microsoft.com/en-us/mcp/forum/all/70-740-refs/e9289fa5-6a86-47a0-a2a4-72b78b30d002 And then this one, which essentially says that the exam blueprint is about Server 2016 v1607 https://community.infosecinstitute.com/discussion/133957/mcsa-ms-70-740-refs-and-datadeduplication So for the purpose of the exam, I will be working on the premise that deduplication isn't supported by ReFS. Good luck guys!

Going to go with this even though again my MCT advised we should factor in any and all updates. It's doubly confusing as slcc99 is correct. Windows Server 1709 is a different version altogether, it is no longer Windows Server 2016, the update path it follows allows it to stay continuously updated and is not considered Windows Server 2016, the question simply states "Windows Server 2016 Standard", as usual clear as mud. Even Ms documentation states ReFS is supported only on.. . "Available on Windows Server, version 1709 and later." (no mention of Windows Server 2016). https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/refs/refs-overview

Rather than continuously updated what I meant was semi annually, essentially Microsoft is trying to sell Windows Server as a service and save us all the hassle of upgrading versions every five minutes. So they push large updates every six months that keep your "Windows Server" version updated.

Does anyone know for sure if Microsoft updates test questions based on version changes? The attach link supports A and D https://www.howtogeek.com/311840/what-is-refs-the-resilient-file-system-on-windows/ I'm guessing the article is before the release of 1709.. Here are the version release dates https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/windows-server-release-info

I went to a microsoft course and the instructor said that you must always take into account the LATEST version With added features not previous. Think ReFS with Data Deduplication

No you don't, all other (especially those considering DeDuplication) questions assume that ReFS does not supprt DeDuplication, So A and D
