HOTSPOT -
Note: This question is part of a series of questions that use the same scenario. For your convenience, the scenario is repeated in each question. Each question presents a different goal and answer choices, but the text of the scenario is exactly the same in each question in this series.
Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The functional level of the forest and the domain is Windows Server 2008 R2. All servers in the domain run Windows Server 2016 Standard. The domain contains 300 client computers that run either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
The domain contains nine servers that are configured as shown in the following table.

The virtual machines are configured as follows:
✑ Each virtual machine has one virtual network adapter.
✑ VM1 and VM2 are part of a Network Load Balancing (NLB) cluster.
✑ All of the servers on the network can communicate with all of the virtual machines.
For VM1 and VM2, you plan to use live migration between Server4 and Server5.
You need to ensure that when the virtual machines migrate, they maintain connectivity to the network.
Which virtual switch names and connection types should you use on each server? To answer, select the appropriate options in the answer area.

Additionally, the switch must be of the external type, or traffic from the VM can't leave the Hyper-V host, which is needed to live migrate. See "Using the Appropriate Type of a Virtual Switch" in this reference: https://www.nakivo.com/blog/hyper-v-networking-best-practices/

For live migration, switch name must match. Reference: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/virtualization/troubleshoot-live-migration-issues#failed-to-live-migrate-because-a-virtual-switch-used-by-the-vm-does-not-exist-on-the-destination-node-host2

The switch names are irrelevant. They just need to be the same. Both networks need to be external as everything needs to communicate with everything.

Network Switch is the only switch name that server 4 and server 5 have in common. The name does not matter, as long as they are the same.

Why should the virtual stwich name be set to "network switch"?

the name can be set to anything, as long as the names of the switches match. if the name of the switch is not the same on both hosts, the live migration will cause a short disconnection and ask for you to enter the destination switch name manually

I think that the vSwitch does matter for Live migration, my understanding is, if they were different, the live migration would fail ?

NOPE! They migrate but they are in a paused state until you change the network adapter.

Does the name of the vSwitch actually matter? Even between hosts, external is external, right? I understand that for simplicity they should have the same name, but it's semantics...

It's not about the name of the switch. its about the fact that the name is the same. The Switches need to be named the same in order for Live Migration to work.
