i think the Field "Billable" time" should be a "Whole Number" because it has to be something countable and it might differ from case to case, so how many options should an optionsret contain??

Isn't Billable time a whole number of hours consumed? I use this up to 10 times a day!

Billable time is an Option set and the options are auto updated based on the calculated Time spent so all the answers are correct.

People are confusing the drop down control as an Option Set. When in this case it is a Whole Number field with a Format of "Duration". Answer should be Whole Number.

I just open the Resolve Case dialog. I confirmed the field "Billable Time" is Option Set in form

It looks like an option set, but it isn't. If you go into solution explorer > case resolution entity > you'd see that billable time is a whole number.

Absolutely agree. People are confusing the drop down control as an Option Set. When in this case it is the Duration format of a Whole Number field.

For billable time , it's confusing. The 'field type' as per question is neither. The display format shows as an Optionset but the formal name in D365 is "Duration" for time in minutes (stored as whole number) which auto-formats into an Optionset of user friendly minutes, hours, days... which can be overwritten with manual entry. In this article the field type is 'Simple', data type is 'Whole Number' and format is 'Duration'. https://www.arbelatech.com/insights/blog/how-to-use-duration-fields-in-dynamics-365-for-sales.html My personal choice is to go with Optionset.

Billable Time is set as "Duration", therefore, technically, a "Whole Number"

The question is "Which field types does the Case Resolution FORM use". Asking abut the form not the data. The form is using an Option Set
